Beltimport contributes to the environment by virtue of BioBelt conveyor belts, which were developed by Forbo Siegling from renewable, biodegradable materials. New BioBelt conveyor belts reduce energy consumption and still have the same physical properties equal to conventional belts. The R&D team has extensively replaced petroleum-based feedstock and synthetic materials by renewable plant based materials. The product is available in different versions, e.g., with a smooth surface or with longitudinal grooves for inclined transportation. With an additional, already patented, special coating on the underside (Amp Miser™) belts achieve energy savings of up to 40%. Customers can easily use the new conveyor belts BioBelt on their conveyors. Whereby all the mechanical components of the conveyor, such as drums, tracking systems and rollers do not require replacement. First successful tests in real-world conditions show that Bio Belt products are just as ideal for airports as for parcel sorting, logistics centers, automotive industry and for industrial production. The team of researchers is also working on the flame retardant type for airports. After a few years at the end of their product life belts can be used to produce new products, complying with the “cradle-to-cradle” principle.
