The market trend is increasing the width of the conveyor belts. A belt that 20 years back was considered as exceptionally wide, nowadays is frequently called as normal. Following to this trend, Gummilabor has updated its production lines and increased the producible widths. Frequently customers ask what is the maximum width that it is possible to produce, and there is not a single value we can mention. We give below explanation.

  • ULTRA WIDE CONVEYOR BELTS WITHOUT ANY FABRIC INTERRUPTION

Gummilabor can produce conveyor belts 2300 mm maximum width using fabrics of the same width without any interruption (therefore without any longitudinal type of joint or coupling).

  • ULTRA WIDE CONVEYOR BELTS WITH LONGITUDINAL FABRICS COUPLING

By using fabrics with longitudinal coupling(s) Gummilabor can produced conveyor belts in width up to 6000 mm. The longitudinal coupling is the combination of narrower fabrics to obtain a wider belt; it should not be considered as a “joint”, as it is not an overlapping of fabrics in the working direction of the belt. These couplings are only made on multi-plies belts, and taking care of being placed at certain distance each other (just to avoid them to be in the same area which should make the belt weaker then). Very important to be noted. These couplings are made on the “crude” reinforcements of the belt (before the belt production vulcanization), so they are not visible externally when the belt has double rubber covers. As example, the belt in the photos below is wider than 2300 mm and it is made by 3 plies having such longitudinal couplings; you can see how they are positioned in 3 different points.

  • ULTRA WIDE CONVEYOR BELTS WITH LONGITUDINAL JOINT(S)

There is an additional way that Gummilabor can offer for ultra wide belts. The way is to longitudinally joining by cold vulcanization two or more narrower belts. This method is technically valid, but aesthetically is not the preferred one; but sometime it is the only possible, due to its easier availability. Following this way, theoretically there is not any size limits to “enlarge” a belt. The customers using this method, are simply glad of its efficacy, do not considering its aesthetical view.
